This is mainly a bug fix release that fixes several small bugs. Although I am sure more bugs still exist this just brings it one step closer to being stable.

In other news we have upgraded our site and changed our forums. So if you have registered previously then you will have to register again. I am very sorry about that but we really didn’t have a whole lot of posts anyway.

I am planning on releasing several modules and will hope to document the module system better in the coming weeks.

I know it has been a long time for any new updates to come out in relation to 68 KB and I wanted to make a quick post outlining what is going on and the future plans for the script.

The reason for the delay is we have other commercial software and released a new major version of it earlier in the year. Since that time we have been busy keeping up with demand which is a great thing.

After the July 4th holiday (We are in the USA) development will be picking back up again and we will be moving toward getting v1.0 released some time this year.

For 68 KB we are now changing the licensing and going with the New BSD license. This means it will be open source and available for free. Since we are now going open source we have moved the files over to Google Code so you can access the SVN repository and always see what is going on. Here is the link to our project page: http://code.google.com/p/68kb/

Although the SVN side of things will be moved to Google Code we do plan to keep our forums and knowledge base hosted here on 68kb.com.

I want to thank everyone that has downloaded 68KB and for using it.

We want to wish everyone a happy valentines day.

Just like Brendon I haven’t received any secret love cards in the mail yet but I am still keeping my head up because the day isn’t over yet. In case you are in the same boat as us I want to send you our love. Without you we wouldn’t be here and we do thank you!

In other news I have been totally revamping our module, plugin, extension, or whatever you want to call it system. I think this will be a big feature of our script and allow you to add new features without hacking the core system. I have also installed a new extension section on our site where we will list all the ones created. Once we get the next release out (RC1) we will open this up and start documenting it.

In case you skimmed over that, I said RC1. Which will be our first release candidate and we will be putting a feature freeze on the script so if you wish to request any features you should do it now.

Have a great day and don’t eat to many green M&M’s.

Beta 5 of 68 knowledge base is now released and available from our customer area.

As much as I hate to do this for this release we made some directory changes. Before this release the includes folder was setup as includes/application. Now this application folder has been renamed to sources and moved outside the includes folder. With this change all core CodeIgniter files are kept together which will make it easier to upgrade in the future.

Beside that change this is basically a bug fix release with the core files upgraded to CodeIgniter 1.6.1. We recommend replacing all the files.

You can see a full list of bug fixes from our issue tracker.

Upgrading

To upgrade you should follow the instructions here:
http://68kb.com/knowledge-base/article/upgrading-instructions

Also keep in the mind the directory changes outlined above.

I have been a StumbleUpon user for a while now but never really got into it. When I was board or wanted to see something new I would hit the stumble icon and find a new random website. I thought that was all to it but yesterday I decided to try to Stumble our blog posts on this site. To my amazement our traffic had a huge spike all from one post. How to remove pesky SVN files.
