68KB v1.0.0 alpha 2 is now released and can be downloaded from our downloads page.
This release is basically a bug fix with a few extra features added. Here is a highlight of the new features.
RSS
You can generate an rss feed from your articles with the following urls:
yoursite.com/index.php/rss/
Or:
yoursite.com/index.php/rss/category/uri/
Where uri is the category uri you want to show.
Print Articles and Bookmarking
Another new feature is the ability to print articles with a printer friendly page. As well as bookmarking. Please keep in mind the bookmark system will not work in all browsers.
Rating
Article rating has been added and it is a very simple “Was this article helpful?” question with a yes and no answer.
Glossary
The glossary system has been totally redesigned to hopefully fix bugs with terms overwriting themselves.
Caching
Another new feature is the ability to setup caching of your sites frontend. You can enable this from administration -> settings and the number you enter will be the cache time in minutes. If you enter a zero (0) it will not cache any pages.
Bug Fixes
This release fixes lots of bugs that have been reported and you can see these in our Change Log
I want to thank everyone for using 68KB and if you have any ideas for features please add them to our forums.

I am pleased to announce that 68KB v1.0.0 alpha 1 is now released and ready for downloading.
The version is our biggest upgrade yet and lots of things have changed since our last release. I will highlight some of the important changes below:
Upgraded the framework
We use CodeIgniter as the framework behind 68KB and this release upgrades it to their latest release.
Cleaner
The coding has been cleaned up a lot. This should make easier for you to edit it if you so desire. The administration has been changed a little to make it cleaner and easier to use.
Meaner
The templates and modules system has been reworking. If you are upgrading old modules and templates will no longer work. I am sorry about this one but we felt it was necessary.
Better docs
Included in the download is a full user guide so you can browse the documentation online or off. You can see the online user guide here.
Plus lots more…
We added a lot of other nice little features including, api, better comments, cleaner themes, and a lot more that have been requested. Although we couldn’t get everyone’s requests added we still appreciate them and will be adding them to future release.
Upgrading
If you are upgrading from a previous release please make a note of this. All date fields have been changed from datetime to use php’s time() function. This means your dates will not be kept during the upgrade.

I want to thank everyone who has recently wrote articles about 68kb. They are really appreciated!
As you may have noticed this week we totally redesigned our site and are now working on a new release of 68kb. In this release we are cleaning up a bunch of code and totally rewriting most of the system to work with CodeIgniter’s latest release.
Not only are we rewriting a lot but also adding some of the most requested features. Right now we are getting close to having a beta available of this but there are still a few features we want to add in. The reason I am writing this is really for two reasons. Number one is we are interested in getting a select few users who wouldn’t mind beta testing this new version, and number two to keep everyone updated with what is going on with the script.
If you are interested in doing some beta testing please reply here and I will get in touch once we get closer to a final product. We will also be posting some more posts about some of the new features. So stay tuned and be sure and subscribe to our rss feed.

This is just a quick note to let everyone know we are upgrading the site today and there may times when certain sections are not working. We hope to be finished with the upgrade in a few hours.
